Did anyone else watch the sneak peek and think that it was a low-rent version of Mythbusters, just not as fun or interesting?

» DO try this at home!
I was thinking last night about how cool it would be if Mythbusters did a bunch of experiements you CAN try at home.

Then I thought, society is still dumb and litigious and someone would probably not follow an instruction and STILL hurt themselves and want to sue the Mythbusters.

Pity we can't have any fun anymore because some idiot doesn't believe they're to blame for their own stupidity. *sigh*
» Sorry MacGyver, but your father is a bad man...
I was out at B-dubs the other day having some chicken wings and adult beverages with a friend of mine and we were talking about Mythbusters.  I looked up at one of the TV's there, and saw an episode of MacGyver and told my friend Mark that I thought it would be awesome if they did an entire episode testing out whether or not MacGyver inventions would actually work.  I came home and looked it up on their website and it turns out that the people who own the copyright to McGuyver won't let Mythbusters touch any of the MacGyver inventions.  This news kind of upset me, for two reasons.  1) It would just be awesome to see them tearing the inventions shred from shred, and 2) it always upsets me when scientific method comes to an "off limits" area.

Seriously,  Richard Dean Anderson and crew probably has enough money as it is.  The show has been off the air since 1992 and the only money they're probably making is from DVD sales.  With the number of people who watch Mythbusters religiously, I can only imagine it would make people want to go out and buy the MacGyver series on DVD.  They had some 140 episodes.

Thoughts?
